Rebind "Perfect Parry" to a mouse side button. The split-second timing is much easier with your thumb than with the F key.
The Perfect Parry is Misty Hunter's most important combat mechanic. It's not optional — it's the difference between struggling for 10 minutes per enemy and executing them in 30 seconds.
How to Practice
- Watch the enemy's weapon, not their body. The parry window starts when the weapon begins its forward swing — press F/LB at that exact moment.
- Don't spam. Failed parry has a 0.5s cooldown. Mashing F guarantees you'll miss the next window.
- Hold block first, then transition to parry. As a beginner, hold F to block and only tap for parries on attacks you recognize. This way, mistimed parries still block damage.
- Parry the last hit of combos. Multi-hit combos get faster on each swing. Parry the final (slowest) hit for a guaranteed stun.
Parrying too early (panic press when you see the wind-up) and forgetting that some boss attacks cannot be parried — these are marked with a red flash. Dodge those instead.
Misty Hunter follows a Scavenge → Fight → Extract → Upgrade loop. Each run is 15-25 minutes. Here's how a typical run flows:
If you die during a run, you lose everything you brought in AND everything you scavenged. Camp upgrades and stash items are safe. Always bring only what you're willing to lose on risky runs.
| Class | Role | Difficulty | Beginner? | Why / Why Not |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iron Guard | Tank | ★☆☆☆☆ | Yes | High HP, shield helps learn parry, forgiving block window. Best starter class. |
| Huntbow | Ranged DPS | ★★☆☆☆ | Good | Safe distance combat, traps for control. Good if you prefer ranged play. |
| Shadowblade | Burst DPS | ★★★☆☆ | After 5h | Rewards perfect parry mastery. Too punishing for new players. |
| Physician | Healer | ★★☆☆☆ | Solo: No | Low solo damage. Great in teams but struggles alone early game. |
| Curse Mage | Spell DPS | ★★★☆☆ | After 10h | Extreme glass cannon. One mistake = death. Needs positioning mastery. |
| Illusionist | Control Support | ★★★★☆ | No | Highest skill ceiling. Clone management + team coordination required. |
Follow this route for your first 3 runs. The goal is survival and learning — not boss kills.
Run 1: Tutorial + Scavenge
- Complete the tutorial mission (mandatory, ~15 min)
- Choose Iron Guard as your class
- Enter Mistwood Valley and head toward the Outer Forest (safest zone)
- Stick to the map edges. Never run through the center.
- Collect basic ores and herbs. Skip all combat you can avoid.
- Extract at the first extraction point you see — don't get greedy
Run 2: Stream Dock Loot
- Bring your best saved gear and 3 Healing Potions
- Head to Stream Dock for better loot (mid-tier gear spawns)
- Practice parrying against lone enemies — one at a time
- Extract before the 15-minute mark
Run 3: Camp Setup
- Use all accumulated materials to upgrade Blacksmith to Lv2
- Craft 5 Healing Potions and 3 Fire Jars at the Alchemy Station
- Reinforce your weapon to +2
- Now you're ready to attempt the first boss (see Boss Guide)
| Priority | Facility | Target Level | Benefit |
|---|---|---|---|
| P0 | Blacksmith | Lv 2 → Lv 5 → Lv 10 | Unlocks weapon reinforcement (+2/+5/+10). Your #1 priority. |
| P0 | Alchemy Station | Lv 1 → Lv 3 | Healing Potions, Fire Jars, Antidotes. Essential consumables. |
| P1 | Training Ground | Lv 1 → Lv 3 | Unlocks passive skills + parry practice dummy. Huge power spike. |
| P1 | Storage | Lv 2 | Expands stash space (essential for hoarding before boss runs). |
| P2 | Garden | Lv 1 | Passive herb generation. Nice to have, not urgent. |
Q: Which class should I pick as a complete beginner?
Iron Guard. High HP, shield block, and a generous parry window make it the most forgiving class to learn on. Once you understand parry timing, switch to Shadowblade for higher damage.
Q: What happens when I die?
You lose all gear and items you brought into the map, plus everything you scavenged during that run. Camp upgrades, stored stash items, and character levels are permanent.
Q: How long does each run take?
15-25 minutes. The in-game timer counts down. You must reach an extraction point before time expires, or you die and lose everything.
Q: What's the best beginner weapon?
One-handed swords (balanced speed/damage) or crossbows (ranged safety). Avoid daggers (require perfect parry mastery) and greatswords (too slow to learn on).
Q: Should I play solo or co-op?
Start solo to learn the basics at your own pace. Co-op scales enemy HP up and adds coordination pressure. Move to co-op after clearing your first boss solo.
Q: How do I unlock the second map?
Defeat Abyss Gazer (Mistwood Valley final boss) to unlock Ancient Battlefield Ruins. You'll need LV 15+ and a +5 weapon minimum.
